Richard Ansett wins Arte Laguna Prize

Venice - The seventh edition of the Arte Laguna Prize has reached its summit with the opening night of the exhibition on Saturday March 16th at the Arsenale of Venice. For each category (painting, sculpture, photography, virtual art, video art & performance) the winners won 7.000€ and Richard Ansett (1966, UK) wins the photography category with Boy #1 from series Boys in a City Park is (Photography).
"The autistic children in ‘Boys in a City Park’ highlight how misunderstood and repressed the condition is as a form of otherness in Ukrainian society. There is a propensity to stigmatise any deviation from the so-called norm and to pathologise life that does not fit into the narrow confines of socially accepted identity." Victoria Ivanova

Others  Zer Nirit (Israel 1973) with his project I here project, 1995 (Virtual Art), Ivelisse Jimenez (Puerto Rico 1966) (Painting),  Costantine Zlatev (Bulgaria 1974) (Sculpture and Installation) and Carlos Martiel (Cuba 1989) with the project Prodigal Son, 2010 (Video Art and Animation and Performance).

Through March 31 the works of finalist artists are on show at the Venice Arsenale.
