We have chosen to welcome 2017 with a truly special issue, “Masterpieces”, dedicated to vintage classics and masterworks of the history of photography. In preparing this issue we interviewed gallery owners and curators and offer profiles of major museums such as MoMA and the Tate Modern, all of them part of that world which exhibits or sells the photographs taken by masters who "wrote" photography history. They are the ones who provide us with the opportunity to appreciate such significant works close-up. But, above all, they allow these photographs to live on.
They are photographs born of passion and artistic experimentation, not commercial ends. Masters such as Ansel Adams, Man Ray, Steichen, Brassaï, Robert Doisneau, Flip Schulke, Avedon, Weegee and Helen Levitt were driven, above all, by their love of photography. They explored it and have presented us with framings, lighting techniques and subjects which, in their day, were innovative, but which even today are sources of inspiration.
What's new this year? We have developed our e-commerce platform in English, making it available to all those who read us around the globe so that they can purchase back issues from our archives with delivery via courier. An important step for Zoom and for international photographers.
