Ellen Kooi's new body of work on show

The Galeria Camara Obscura de Madrid presents an individual exhibition of the photographer Ellen Kooi (Leeuwarden, Holland, 1962) titled "Elements". These new Ellen's pieces develop a new approach to portrait as a genre: always preferring children as photographed subjects, because "they are the ones who live the situations in a more crystalline way, without getting contaminated of their daily life", in these photographs she built narrations in the first person, who speak directly to the viewer, as film directors F.W. Murnau and Andrei Tarkovski who actively involve the viewer in the narration for example through the character looking directly at the camera.
"You can see my images as unresolved riddles...What really matters to me is that the stories I tell find echo in the personal experiences of the spectator. My narrations have open ends and I present them so that everyone can imagine their own stories and find your own answers." Ellen Kooi
